The last time I saw Charles Oliver Nutter
He remarked that “It was nice meeting you again.” to which, I thought, “Again!? How embarassing, I don’t recall the first time.” Charles, was it RubyConf2004?

I wondered if you would remember, but don’t feel bad that you did not. My friend Kelly and I were at RubyConf04 because he lived in New York at the time and my employer is based in northern VA. We talked with you for some time about your work and the maths involved.
The discussion actually prompted me to consider doing my graduate work in Mathematics, so for that I thank you. However, my employer will not reimburse for subjects not related to work, so I am back on my original Computer Science plan. Perhaps someday I’ll have a chance to come back to maths again.
At any rate, it was good to talk—however briefly—at RubyConf05, and I hope I’ll see you at 06 next year! Now I just need to figure out this 43 people thing…
p.s. This year you inspired me to dust off my Strunk and White, after many years on the shelf. Kudos again!
