i feel so rushed all of a sudden. too much to do and not enough time. not enough time to think about the decisions i’ve made… like i’m just going along with everything cos i cant think about it all properly. ive no idea if i’m going the right way in my life.
Which way are you headed, then?
Just curious. Hope the rushing-through-things feeling goes away – I hate it when that happens. Can you take things easy-ish for a while? Otherwise, do what you can with what you’ve got. I’ve found a nice long bicycle ride always cheers me up :).

i’m headed towards university… and thats a pretty decided way to spend 4 years of my life. i dunno, this year (my gap year) has been amazing, and full of so many mind-opening experiences. now it just seems that staying in one place with the same people will be a waste of time. no travelling, no excitement… but i guess i’m just being silly. but i do feel that there’s so much rushing to decide what you want to do with your life in this culture. i guess thats why i’m going to uni: cos it’s the most open option.
aaah sorry for blabbing! i’ll go and take that bike ride now :)

Uni isn’t that bad (or, at any rate, it wasn’t for me), but maybe that came from studying in a new country, so much to explore, new culture, new people, etc.
Plus, the other nice thing about Uni is that it’s the last place to play your but-I’m-still-a-kid card, and go on long crazy trips and suchlike before real responsibilities come crashing down around you, and all that.

Hi, Just wanted to add my thoughts.
I went to Uni for 4 years because I didn’t know what else to do with my life at the time. I had a great time, enjoyed the course, met lots of friends, including my girlfriend (of 7 years now).
However, I’ve hardly used what I learned and it didn’t improve my career prospects. I also matured more in two years of work than I did in four years of uni. I sometimes feel that uni is largely a waste of time and money.
I have now decided what I want to do with my life, namely become a nurse and have gone back to uni for another three years.
My advice, take more time, work, decide on your life goals and then go to uni if this fits with your plans.
At the end of the day though, you’ve got to do what’s right for you at this point in your life.

I’ve a feeling I’m going to go back to Uni eventually (just got out of it the first time around without actually learning much of any use to me), so it’s really nice to know it’s possible. Thanks for sharing your story!

thanks… i definitely see your point, and i guess that’s what my gap year’s been about. i’ve had some amazing experiences (of work and life and the world in general :p) and although i wasnt keen on the idea of a gap year at first, it’s been the best thing for me. the only thing is, i feel that even though i’ve had a year to basically be free, now going to uni i’m going to feel trapped. I know its the right thing to do cos i’m passionate about my subject and i want to learn about it. it just feels… like i’m following the crowd and staying in one place… i dunno, i’m weird!
but yes, i totally agree with you about taking time over these things. i just hope i’ve taken enough!
