I first came across Isabel Allende in high school as part of a mandatory reading assignment for my english class. After reading the book, she instantly became one of my favorite authors. Not only is her writing enjoyable but you also learn more about Chile and the history (or herstory c=) of the country. Her books are fantastic reads that come from the heart.
