Why I want to meet Bruce Parry

I first became aware of the existence of Bruce Parry when I stumbled across an episode from the first series of Tribe. I was impressed by his open-minded and genuine enthusiasm for learning about different peoples through total immersion. Bruce is a natural presenter with none of the arrogance or self-absorption which can be found in others – he is not the focus of the series, but because of this, his presenting skills are actually better.

Bruce Parry is always respectful of local beliefs and customs, and remains as neutral as is possible in all circumstances. In particular, the second series covers tribes in Africa who dislike each other, but Bruce integrates with each of them, taking them all on their own merits without bias.

This restored a little faith in people for me, because when we see all sides of a conflict in the way he presents them, we see them as people rather than the “enemy” or an “ally”. I never ended up siding with any of the tribes but was instead saddened that they all felt such fear, anger and hatred over a situation which was probably inherited from their ancestors.

A true humanist and an open-minded learner.

Hi Zijue!!!!!!!

I owe you a letter!!! I’m sending you a message, if I can manage to navigate back to my newly-rediscovered messages center. I seem to be site-challenged.

:D Hope you’re well!
