My year in review
In the last several years of my life, I have been finding a strange pattern between odd number years and even numbered years. I am not particularly superstitious or obsessive-compulsive about numbers, but I have found that my even numbered years (and even numbered ages) have been consistently more interesting and worthwhile than my odd ones. For example, I had one of the best self-learning experiences in 2004 when I entered a transition and traveled to China. 2005: I got my first job and did not like it. 2006: Had a rocky beginning, but ended up with me traveling to Poland and having a decent summer as result of that experience. 2007 was sadly the same odd numbered pattern. I did not go anywhere I hadn’t been before. I got yet another job which I’ve kept. I still don’t like the same things, and if anything, knitting became a bigger focus in my life. I read a bit less, and watched fewer films. What this means is that 2008 should include some amazing times. Indeed, I intend to travel again this year. That is the surest thing I know of ‘08 right now. Hopefully it’ll show me even more of itself in wonderous ways.
