A question I have about emiliakaarina

What are your religious views and beliefs?

Ha, that’s a tricky question. :)

Well, I guess I should start with the facts.
1. I was born and raised a Lutheran. (Finnish Evangelical Lutheran, to be precise.) I suppose I used to believe in God at some point in my life, but I “grew out” of it.
2. I am no longer a part of the Christian church, I left a year or two ago.
3. I do not believe in a Christian God, or any other god(s) for that matter. I don’t see the point in it, it’s not for me.

I haven’t given religion too much thought yet, I’m still in the process of finding things out for myself. But at the moment I do know that none of the main religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism etc) are for me. I can’t relate to them.
I think every person should decide about their own religion just by themselves. It’s the most personal thing there is. I have nothing against other people who decide to have faith in the Christian God and Jesus Christ, or any other god for that matter. The only thing I ask of them is to leave me be, to let me make my own decisions and form my own ideas. I do not want to be converted, the thought of that makes me almost physically ill.

If I should name one religious view I find somewhat appealing, it would have to be Agnosticism.
“Agnosticism (from the Greek a, meaning “without”, and gnosticism or gnosis, meaning “knowledge”) is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims—particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of God, gods, deities, or even ultimate reality—is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently unknowable due to the nature of subjective experience.
Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of the existence of God or gods; or, alternatively, that while individual certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge. Agnosticism in both cases involves some form of skepticism.”
This sounds very reasonable to me.
I’m also pretty fascinated by all nature-based religions, all forms of paganism and such. I was into Wicca for a while when I was a teen, but it passed for some reason.

I guess I could debate about religion quite a lot, but I’ve never been too into discussing religion. It’s just a really touchy area for people and I don’t enjoy conflicts and heated arguments.
I am not a very religious person in the end, as you probably can see. Religion isn’t that important for me, at least not at this point in my life. Things change, though. We’ll see what the future brings and what ideas arise. :)
