My best friend throughout childhood and early adulthood died 12 years ago. We always said we’d be each other’s best man, should either of us ever get married.
When I got married last year, which was a favourite moment in itself, his long time girlfriend, whom I am still a great friend with, was my best man. His 17-year-old son was there too, and drinking Guinness (it was St. Patrick’s day after all) with him at the reception afterwards, took me back to all the times Tim and I had spent together at that age, and was the perfect end to a perfect day.
Wow. That is incredible that you had. You spoke of a perfect end to a perfect day. It reminds me that we are not here for long. I appreciate you sharing that moment with me.
So when we meet, it needs to be in an Irish place where we can share a Guinness.
I will order you a Black and Tan. I remember one of my first “different” Black and Tans that I drank was at the GingerMan in Austin, Texas. They made it with Murphy’s Irish Stout and Fullers ESB. That is a very different Black and Tan than the traditional Guinness/Harp or Bass. Try it sometime and you will be pleased.
Much love to you and your incredible wife.
