Why I want to meet Salman Rushdie
He is both brave man, dedicated for freedom of speech and amazing story teller – I hoped to learn to write with as authentic voice and be able to tell stories as vividly.
Won the Booker Prize, wrote Midnight’s Children, The Satanic Verses, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, among others

Heard him on NPR today speaking about the strong women in his life. He grew up w/3 sisters apparently.
He just has a way with words and using them to twist ideas and reality so that they become incredibly clever, poignant and funny at the same time.
I don’t think he meant to offend Islam in the Satanic Versus, but perhaps just people who will not allow reason to enter their arguments (which I do not think is inherent to Islam at all). Surely responding to him with vitriol and death threats is more of an insult to Islam than anything he did or said.
.. it is not just because of the fact that he created the memorable Salim Sinai
but also because he has such a beautiful wife (who I don’t know why acted in ‘boom’)
He spoke at my college and I was briefly introduced through the newspaper I work for. He has an incredible sense of humor.
He signed my Satanic Verses. He would not, however, sign my hippie ex-boyfriend’s Ayurvedic Chakra Blahblahblah book, and Mr. Rushdie was memorably snippy about saying “no.”
