Al Franken (placeholder)

He was at the MN DFL picnic. I shook his hand and talked to him about geometry. :)

I was working as a receptionist at a law firm in 2005, and one of the lawyers was in a political action group. They were holding a meeting, and lo and behold, Al Franken is a member and showed up to the meeting. I almost didn’t notice it was him—I had already directed at least 15 people downstairs, and was pretty much on robot-mode with it. I told him I was a big fan and he stopped to talk for a minute. It was seriously the best day of work ever. (Except that I didn’t get to eat any of the food they had in the meeting. That would have been nice.)

Because I’m good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!

Al is super smart, brilliantly funny and incredibly talented on many levels. He’s an accomplished televesion and movie writer and actor, bestselling author, and now a candidate for US Senate! He cares enough about our future to take a brave stand and fight for the the values he believes in, which happen to be right in sync with my own values. I’m a longtime member of his Al Franken Fan Club and his Al Franken Forum also, where I help spread Al’s message and ideals, as well as plenty of Al Franken love! Meeting Al would be an honor and priveledge. I’m his #1 fan!

He was part of the Sergeant Major’s USO tour in Dec. 06. So great, he’s such a wonderful performer and a sincere politician. Very rare mix.

I just love the guy. His smarts, his common sense, his wonderful humor. He’s raised the bar for political discourse in this country. Plus, he has good taste in music.

Plus he’s a Minnesota boy from my very own generation. I’m proud to be from the same place and time as Al Franken.

I met him at the embassy suites hotel here in MPLS when I was 9. It was my birthday party and he came out of the elevator with a big grin on his face. I told him that I recognized him from Saturday Night Live and he laughed. I have a huge crush on him to this day.

He came on the 61st USO SWA Tour, and I was able to get his autograph!

I’m just trying to figure out how to add people to my list. I couldn’t find anything to click on or type in to add a person. I had to do a search for a name and then click “I want to meet this person.”
grr.
What do you do to add someone to your list that you don’t have to search for first?
Help!

I’ve read his books, I respect his views, and he’s frickin’ hilarious.
