A story about Ayn Rand

Dump it! — 6 days ago

Ayn Rand, that girlish romantic, captured the narrow eye of the Neocons, and their surface analysis of her message has them John Galt-ing the United States into oblivion. Her adolescent fantasies about a Republican Shangri-la don’t hold water, and don’t forget either, that Galt’s Valley was entirely powered by a generator the size of a suitcase.
Atlas Shrugged is the bible of the Libertarianism. Rand’s teachings and writings rooted in laissez-faire capitalism
Her philosophy is that individualism is the highest goal and the greatest good is whatever your selfish motivation dictates. This not only ignores the fact that human beings are social and communal animals, dependant on one another to survive, but also is completely and explicitly opposed to religion in any form, denouncing it as superstition and also denouncing the concern for others that religion teaches.
Atlas Shrugged is huge and boring.
Dump it or use it to prop up a broken table!

A story about Ayn Rand

The best way to know Ayn Rand that I have found is by reading her Journals, which are now in print. What an amazing brain. You follow as she discovers her core beliefs via trial and error, and in the course of writing a screen play that was never made into a movie on the Atomic Bomb she interviews all involved. Facinating.

Ever wonder who she really based the characters in her books on? How they got their characteristics, what drove the story?

Its all in there. A must read.
