Why do we want to meet famous people?What do we expect them to do and feel?Don’t know, but think that if I had to spend a few hours on a boat travelling from some obscure place to another I could do worse than spend them in his company.
I think it’s a journey that would end up on the editing floor from his point of view

Why I admire Michael Palin

Michael has always been my “favourite” python, and as a child I found him hilarious. I adored the Time Bandits (which he wrote) and enjoyed his travels on TV (still do, more so).

As an adult I recently discovered Ripping Yarns, and can’t believe I haven’t seen them before. They are fantastic! I read his diary recently, and find it odd that I can be so nostalgic for a time and place I’ve never known.

He is an excellent writer, a great actor, a renowned traveller, an intelligent person, a family man and a (seemingly!) nice person. I definitely want to shake his hand, buy him a pint and listen to the amazing stories he must have to tell.

I admire his work, both humorous and travel-oriented. I’d just like to have the chance to thank him for it, express my appreciation and buy him a muffin to go with his coffee. That’s all.

He did a talk on his diaries at Logan Hall a few weeks ago. Awesome. And then he took time to have a quick chat to anyone who wanted their book signed (And that was a LOT of people). So lovely.
