Spoke to him after a show at the Napa Valley Opera house. Great show, fascinating guy.

I attended his Googlewhack Adventures show last night after several people informed me of its excellence. And indeed it was excellent. See it! Afterwards, he was hanging out in the lobby of The Moore Theater, and I wanted to tell him how I was sort of a less funny, less crazy, slightly younger version of himself. He too is susceptible to bets, has incredibly good luck, and has searched out people who have his name… but he takes all of his antics five hundred illogical steps further than I dare do. It’s like I’m a Dave Gorman that has been xeroxed a thousand times and all that’s left is a purple smudge across the page. In any case, I admire this man. He wished me well on my travels to find other Erik Bensons. When I hugged him he said, “I can’t hug you back” but then I said “You must” and he did. He explained later that there is a group of people in existence who are all trying to “give Dave Gorman a big happy hug” and that he had learned that the best way to avoid awkwardness was to not hug back. Imagine having to go to sleep at night knowing that there’s a group of people trying to hug you. That is how Dave Gorman feels every night.
