Why I want to meet Richard Dawkins
last but not least because it is very important to claim different points of view in a democratic world.
Richard Dawkins was educated at Oxford University and has taught zoology at the universities of California and Oxford. He is the Charles Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. His books about evolution and science include The Selfish Gene, The Extended Phenotype, The Blind Watchmaker, River Out of Eden, Climbing Mount Improbable and most recently, Unweaving the Rainbow.
last but not least because it is very important to claim different points of view in a democratic world.
He reminds people that having awe and an immense connection and emotional response to nature, and the universe, isn’t reserved just for religious and spiritual people.
After reading the God Delusion and watching some of his videos, he made me appreciate the immense wonder for being alive.
Every time I see the sun in the sky, I have to pinch myself! We are revolving around a huge ball of flames, that is quite small compared to other stars!
I am filled with wonder and awe. Thank you Richard for opening the door to truth.
Dear Richard
l have got school for orphans and needy children which ldeas can you help me to make for this children a life education project so that they can get skills and knowledge
You always read about all these great men in history books, Darwin, Newton, Einstein, I still don’t understand Einstein, and it seems i had never understood Darwinism also, but thanks to The selfish gene I do now, it is amazing and right, i don’t know why most of the world believes otherwise. It is great that there is someone in my time that will go down in the history books.
He has such an enormous respect for life. As many others have pointed out, he’s not afraid to tell the truth, either.
All who have placed Dawkin’s lectures and interviews on YouTube have made me very, very happy. But I still hope to attend a lecture one day, and maybe, if I’m lucky, get to meet the man, too.
Dawkins isn’t afraid of searching out the truth, no matter where it may lead, or how unpopular it might be. I love how he is a leading advocate for atheism, secular humanism, and freethinkers around the world. I learned more about evolution from the first third of The Blind Watchmaker than I did in all of high school and college biology. It made so much sense afterwards, it made me wonder how I ever believed all the Christian creationism indoctrinization from my childhood. The God Delusion helped me see why atheists and secular humanists need to champion advocacy, and the harm that sitting idly by does. He’s an amazing man, and I hope I get to meet him some day.
The Selfish Gene is one of my favorite books. Dawkins is probably the best science writer living today. I admire is skepticism and rational thinking.
Mr. Dawkins held a small lecture in Oslo last year, at Blindern University. I went there because I admired his book, “The Selfish Gene”. I was not disappointed. His lecture was about if evolution can be predicted, and it was extremely interesting, as is the man and the field he’s in.
At the end of the lecture, one (pardon me for saying so) stupid individual who clearly held strong belief in so called “Intelligent Design”, stole the few minutes left over for questions from the audience, with unintelligent replies to Dawkins’ arguments, and pointless questions about mr. Dawkins’ view of the whole ID-idea. It embarrassed me, and it annoyed me, that among all the questions that people clearly had, this ID-guy stole the entire show with his stuttering, stupid mumbling. But all in all, I learned a whole lot from the lecture. I’m gonna get his latest book on the God delusion too.
I watched Richard Dawkins on the Colbert Report. He’s one of the few people who can handle Stephen Colbert. Arianna Huffington is another.
