The last time I saw Kofi Annan
I was in NYC near Central Park and he was walking with his wife and boddy guards… I was pretty excited.

he’s my role modal
always has been
a true scholar and a gentleman
just so i could shake his hand!
I am impressed by his ability to run the most political organization in the world. He has always appeared to handle the most contentious situations with grace and dignity. I have long admired him and would love to find out how he has such patience given the urgency of the issues at the UN.
He seems to possess a quiet intensity that amazes me. I can’t imagine a more hostile work environment, being in front of the entire world, right in the middle of every conflict between nations big and small. There are probably not that many people who have the full scope of human suffering laid out in front of them so intimately.
I’m inspired by him.
I saw him speaking in the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis. I think he must be one of the best speakers I’ve heard. He didn’t even once look at his notes (if he had any) and spoke with such a quiet conviction. I’m wondering does he memorize each of his speeches.
“It is my aspiration that health will finally be seen not as a blessing to be wished for, but as a human right to be fought for.”
