Why I admire Michael Moore
I think he’s an amazing documentarian. His films move me – I think it’s wonderful when one’s moral compass and creative energies mesh like this…
Documentarian, rabble-rouser.
Michael Moore was born in Flint, Michigan April 23 1954. He studied journalism at the University of Michigan-Flint, but also pursued other hobbies such as Gun shooting, for which he even won a competition. Michael started working as an editor for the journal of the University he attended at the beginning to his journalism career. He then turned to filmmaking, and to earn the money for the budget of his first film “Roger and Me” he ran neighborhood bingo games. He eventually got himself into leading a string of documentaries and TV series all predominantly around the same subject; attacks on politicians and business corporations, getting his opinion around and about. He landed his first big hit with “Bowling for Columbine” about the bad points of the freedom of weapon holding in America, which earned him an Oscar and a big reputation. He then shook the world with his even bigger hit “Farenheit 9/11” – making fun of President George W. Bush. Michael is known for having the guts to give his opinion in public, which not many people are courageous enough to do, and for that is respected by many.

Years ago, at a screening of The Big One in Seattle, he singled me out of the audience for ridicule. I mean, it could have been worse only if he was laughing and pointing at me.
But I still like the guy.
I first met Michael Moore when I caught him on AIM one night (this had to be in oh.. 2000? 1998? so long ago..) and taught him how to make digital smiley faces. :) :) :)
I later actually met him at a taping for the Awful Truth. He was really fantastic.
He has balls! He says things I know I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying – speaking out against the whole government…yes, people complain about the government and “the man” during a conversation with friends or whatever, but not on the scale that Michael Moore does. Even though I don’t know if I agree with absolutely everything he has ever said I do admire him for speaking out in the ways he has.
The reason I would want to meet Michael Moore is because he stands up for what he believes in, discusses pertinent issues without fear of the consequences, his guts and tenacity.
I would like to meet him because he sees the truth in everything, the truth is out there!!!
