The real reason I want to meet Brian Greene
I don’t know him
Physicist and author of The Elegant Universe and The Fabric of the Cosmos.
I want to meet Brian Greene, because he is the only person I’ve seen who can make quantum physics not only understandable, but entertaining.
I think his work is fantastic, and I absolutely love his ability to think outside the box. I am in absolute awe of this man! I’d love to meet him and just shake his hand (I think IRL I’d be terrified of actually trying to discuss physics with him! o.O )...
Brian spoke at my college and, just as someone else had mentioned, a lot of ‘intelligent’ folks felt the need to ask ‘questions’ which amounted to nothing more than mental masturbation being spouted from heads filled with meat. The poor man had to deal with that bullshit but he did so very gracefully, and I was impressed with his patience.
He looks a lot older than his adorable photos, but he is still sexy in that older professor kind of way. (he even wore a jacket with the elbow patches! HOT.)
He seemed a bit bewildered at the show, and very humble as if he wasn’t quite sure why everyone was making such a fuss over him.
My impression was if you had the chance to get to know him without the shows & audiences & stupid questions & publicity, he is probably a very decent, down-to-earth kind of guy.
I hope to meet him again one day and hopefully share a few words this time.
A few years ago I was channel surfing and saw The Elegant universe NOVA Series on PBS. I had read the book quite a few times and was astonished and silly-happy to see this documentary. I watched with intrigue and fascination. Listened to all the interviews, the dialogues, and watched the graphics as sexy and profound as anything I’d ever seen before. Bet you never thought physics could be sexy could you? Brian Greene speaks in laymen’s terms, not wordy, incomprehensible mumbo-jumbo. He represents physics in such a way that anyone and everyone can understand it’s implications. He makes science, particularly string theory and cosmology a cool thing to learn. It is cool. Imagine sitting there having a conversation about Calabi-Yau Manifolds and the 11th dimension. Makes you imagine the what-ifs, the possibilities… Brane rangeing if you will… Anyway I admire Brian Greene for being a fearless reprentative of a theory some would say borders meta physics…
I quote Agent K from the film “Men in Black”, “1500 years ago, everybody “knew” that the earth was the center of the universe. 500 years ago, everybody “knew” that the earth was flat. And 15 minutes ago, you “knew” that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll “know” tomorrow. ”.... Imagine that…
is he married? because he’s one hot physicist. funny too.
i say met… it was more… i heard him speak (side note: one of the best speaches i have ever heard… plus, i now understand the basics of string theory) at UB and he signed my book.
