Laurie Anderson (placeholder)

She has inspired me to write some poems and stories. I love her melding of different media and experience synethesia at her concert.

She is the musician who always makes me think.

Laurie came recently to the desert Arizona boondocks to give a lecture at my university. I would LOVE to attend a musical performance of hers someday, but I think I preferred this lecture because we got to hear about various projects and subjects of interest to her. I got to meet her at the book-signing afterwards, where we spoke briefly about Buddhism and rat terriers. I was very awkward, but she was very sweet, so it balanced out, haha. Thanks for coming to my school, Laurie!

My wife and I saw Laurie perform in New Mexico. She seemed really tall on stage. After the show, we stood in line to meet here and I mentioned to my wife that Laurie seemed much taller on stage. Now, let me mention that I had been a fan for some time – her work changed my perspective on art and music to an amazing extent – so I really wanted to say something significant when I met her. So, we get to the front of the line and walk up to the table. And my wife says to Laurie, “You’re so tiny!” And I did not know what to say…

She is and has been one of my biggest infuences over the past 15 years. My wife and I got to see Moby Dick in Texas and it was one of the most memorabe events of my life!!!

Would love to have coffee and pick her brain about art and expression.

This is sort of embarrassing to admit, but when I saw her perform on her Mr. Heartbreak tour in Austin, TX, I felt sleep overtake me during one particular performance piece. Not out of boredom, but as a child who falls asleep to the sound of her mother’s soothing lullabies. I did wake up soon afterwards during the same song; I just hope I did not snore that night.

Forgive me, Ms. Anderson. You have given me a love of difficult listening music, and an appreciation for the unusual and unique. The comfort I feel at “uncomfortable” music derives from your hypnotic work. This is something positive, and is in no way a critique on your work.

Umm… because she’s a friggin’ genius!

I met Laurie at a booksigning. She was so patient and cool. The thing that stuck out the most about the event was that she took the sharpie pen and not only signed each book, she took it and and rubbed it on her thumb and actually left her fingerprint on the book as well.
She’s smart, creative and inspiring. I love Laurie.
