The absolute best show I’ve ever seen was Prince’s show in Vegas last year. I was not even really a Prince fan but my friends bought me a ticket to go with them while we were in town. I spent most of the show in delicious tears, I was so blown away by his talent and perfection. He is not afraid to let his light shine. As a multi-instrumentalist myself, I was overcome by how he effortlessly ripped on every instrument he picked up. One of the best experiences of my life.
I understand wanting to protect your name , etc. However, I’d love to ask the man if it’s so serious that he has to actually go after his fans and fan clubs legally. If they’re bootlegging or pirating music, that’s one thing, but anything else is questionable (maybe even “Scandalous”). I do love his music, though. Erotic City, can’t you see… (Don’t sue me, please Prince!)
He’s a musical genius! He produces his own music, has created films with his soundtrack and has endure as long as most legends. My first song of his I loved, and still is, is “I Wanna Be Your Lover”. I saw him live several years ago, around 2002, at the Orpheum with my friend Bill Taylor. I would love to meet him someday.

During my college days, I would often go for months listening to nothing but Prince and Neil Young.

I met him twice in London, the first time was at a studio in Kensington the second time was at a hotel. I found him aloof, warm and curious, as his moods seem to change quite quickly. He never spoke and watched me intently, he asked the person I was seeing at the time about me, like my name and how long we’d been seeing each other. He said he liked me but I’m not sure if my boyfriend at the time was just saying that. Prince is really tiny, his instruments look like they belong to Barbie, either way he is beautiful, warm, witty, extremely talented and I would be lost without his music. He is the only artist for me and the only MAN for me.
Every summer in Brooklyn we have a Celebrate Brooklyn festival with music and movies. Opening night this year, Prince came. He was sitting in the front seated section for those who pay more than the optional 3 dollar donation. Then he got up and PLAYED! For nothing. Just cuz.
Sadly, I was not there. But my friends told me all about it. GRRRR
