A story about Faye Wong
Faye is great. She’s has awesome acting range and I would like to see her appear in more films. I would love to see her in one GOOD American film – because I happen to be American and it is exciting to me to see my favorite foreign actors speak in my native language. Faye Wong comes across the screen as being herself – you get a sense of what I’m saying by watching chungking express.
-But I think my favorite role of all would be her restrained and choked longing in the story for her Japanese boyfriend. I personally find those underlying layers of her acting to be exciting playing out across the screen and she pulls it off. And without it being confused for some sort of stereotyping, I find a bit of that quality to run throughout acting in Asia. That’s the reason I enjoy so many films from Asia as well. I can really see the underlying emotion and it’s just a pleasure to watch on screen.
I have to say the scenes where Faye also played an Android in 2046 – Faye, you really had the movements down to your eyes and eyelids. I believed you were an Android – that was awesome. Go Faye!
General Info: Apparently, Faye’s child was born with a cleft lip and she had it surgically repaired. Faye then went on the create a foundation for helping children with the same affliction. that says something nice about her as well.
