A story about Joe Satriani

Geez… where to start. I’ve been a huge fan of his since ‘90. I don’t get like this about any other artist or band. I’ve got all his recordings, a couple videos, and I’ve seen him play live… 19 times. [!!!]

Been lucky to win after-show passes a couple of times, as well as just hanging out to meet him afterward for some autographs, pics, etc.

Had him sign my guitar: “Hey Ed, you suck!!! Take some lessons!”

A story about Joe Satriani

I saw him Live, it’s an amazing experience, he acts like he’s barely playing. Un describable.

A story about Joe Satriani

Yet only in concert but like four rows to the front at the Filmore in SF. I could see each sweat drop off his shiny, bald, guitar-infused head.

Why I admire Joe Satriani

I admire Joe, because he expresses futuristic style. He always seems to incorporate the latest sounds, techniques, and ideas of the time into his music. He is a bluesy guitar player who likes to bend and hold onto a note for a while; he plays a lot of blues-structure songs; yet, Joe is not a blues musician. Joe plays the future. He seems to embody that image, as well. I could almost see him wearing Neo’s or Morpheus’ costume from The Matrix, jammin’ away. He da man!!

A story about Joe Satriani

I first was introduced to Joe Satriani when he made an appearance on Adam Curry’s “Headbanger’s Ball”, on MTV. He had his guitar and amp, and he ripped out “Satch Boogie” and a few other great tunes. He was very quiet and shy-like, but he was laid-back and cool. That’s when I started looking him up and trying to find his music. He’s been one of my favorite musicians ever since.

Why I want to meet Joe Satriani

Joe Satriani is one of my favorite guitar players, and I have been a fan since I was 15 or 16 years old. Now, I’m more than twice that old, and I am still inspired by Surfing With The Alien, Flying In A Blue Dream, and The Extremist. He’s produced many great albums after those, but those are my favorites. He gets down on “Satch Boogie” and he makes tears come to my eye on “Always With Me, Always With You”.

A story about Joe Satriani

I met Joe Satriani after a gig at the Metro Arena in Newcastle upon Tyne. I was walking behing the stadium to go home after the concert and noticed some other kids waiting around the back all saying he was gonna come out this way.
He did and he got off the bus and I shook his hand! – hopefully some of the guitar magic rubbed off and has helped me play along the way – maybe not :D
He was a very quiet and unassuming person and seemed quite centered and modest.
Some people had their moms bring them their guitars for him to sign, I suppose they must have expected him to do this.
I managed to get one of his concert flyers signed, and I have it to this very day!
