Panic Channel
Panic Channel (written パニックちゃんねる or PANIC☆ch, both pronounced the same way) is an independent Japanese Visual kei band signed to the label Mission Music Factory. They perform under two personas: パニックちゃんねる is their gothy, Visual Kei side, and PANIC☆ch is a light visual boy band side. Some fans consider PANIC☆ch to be Oshare Kei, however, the band itself claims not to be.
The band was formed in November 2002 with Meguru, Kana, and Tara as the line up. In early 2003, Tsubasa and Yuusuke joined, thus forming the original line-up, which consisted of Meguru on vocals, Kana on guitar, Tsubasa on lead guitar, Tara on bass, and Yuusuke on drums.
Yuusuke left the band in March 2004 and was quickly replaced by Takumi. With this change is the line-up that they are known for.
In December of 2004, Tara began to have hearing problems and decided to take a break from the band. The other members continued to play with support from Saburo, the ex-bassist of Gift. Tara later returned and the band recorded their first full album, TRICK.
In May of 2005, it was announced that Tara would leave the band. During the period of his illness, he felt the band had moved in different directions musically than he wanted to pursue. He left in July after his “graduation” one-man live.
In November of the same year, Takumi and Tsubasa also decided to leave for unknown reasons. Their leave was also concluded with a “graduation” one-man live. During this live, fans began crying, as well as Meguru, thinking that this would be the end of Panic Channel.
However, to everyone’s surprise, the band reformed in January 2006 with new members, MAYO on guitar, kiri on bass, and KYOYA on drums. Since the reformation of the band, they had a nation-wide tour in April 2006 and released two new singles, Plowforward movement~ and Ishin.
