I heard him interviewed on the radio and admired his dedication to putting his faith into action, and that one of his sources of inspiration was Dorothy Day.
A story about Shane Claiborne
I met him when he spoke at Whitworth college in February of this year. I was SO excited. Not so much making a hero out of him, especially not when you consider all the great work of people who have worked WITH him, but exciting nonetheless.
I suppose I admire him so much because he’s done everything I WANT to do with my life… so yeah, he’s awesome. Also just a generally down to earth guy to talk with, and so loving… he’s just SO cool.

the first time I met Shane, he was my brother’s roommate in college. He had a deep southern accent and said, “God Bless you” a lot.
I visited the Simple Way for the first time in 1999 and thought Shane and the others there were going through some kind of Jesus hippie phase.
Now, I admire what they do there and strive to make changes in my own life so that I can live my life as Jesus intended.
