The real reason I want to meet Hayden Christensen
Unfortunately Hayden Christensen is grossly, and mistakenly underrated as an actor. It’s true he had a few fuzzy moments in Revenge of the Sith – but this guy has all the right emotions when he’s at even his semi best- if people LOOK carefully; unfortunately, so many people are used to the swearing, loud, even macho, sexually-charged type of lead character. – And Hayden comes across as more of a laid-back kind of guy. I think that is what people mistake for lack of acting skills. If you see him in Attack of the Clones, you’ll see that he is having all the correct emotions his character is supposed to have – even if he doesn’t have a machine gun in his left hand and grenades in his right blowing up flying helicopters with the flick of a wrist… I personally find that people have critiqued film out of Asia as being filled with people who can’t act. I find that the films people are talking about – the acting is great. I love the subtlety behing the layers on the face and the feelings in the eyes that takes place in a many films I have seen out of Asia – and it’s terrific, authentic acting. I think that is also why I can pick up Hayden’s acting as well. (Don’t care what anyone says. ;))
I’ve held back on this post for a long time now because Hayden is such an undeniable “heartthrob” and I don’t want to be part of the fan club (no offense). -But I like Hayden, I hope he gets better roles with the right script & production. I think with the right quality story, direction his acting skills are going to be harnessed and noticed. The Jumper film was ok overall, but again the writing suffered – terribly sometimes – It’s such a shame because the concept of the film was hot but the script again stifled the prospect of a great film and of Hayden’s skills a bit (as well as Samuel Jackson’s).
