Why I want to meet Vincent Van Gogh
Did a research paper on him during college. I understand the man. The motives for his odd behavior endear me to him. He had his reasons; I can identify. If he’s in heaven, then I’ll see him there.

VINCENT LYRICS
Starry
starry night
paint your palette blue and grey
look out on a summer’s day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils
catch the breeze and the winter chills
in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they did not know how
perhaps they’ll listen now.
Starry
starry night
flaming flo’rs that brightly blaze
swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in
Vincent’s eyes of China blue.
Colors changing hue
morning fields of amber grain
weathered faces lined in pain
are soothed beneath the artist’s
loving hand.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
perhaps they’ll listen now.
For they could not love you
but still your love was true
and when no hope was left in sight on that starry
starry night.
You took your life
as lovers often do;
But I could have told you
Vincent
this world was never
meant for one
as beautiful as you.
Starry
starry night
portraits hung in empty halls
frameless heads on nameless walls
with eyes
that watch the world and can’t forget.
Like the stranger that you’ve met
the ragged men in ragged clothes
the silver thorn of bloddy rose
lie crushed and broken
on the virgin snow.
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they’re not
list’ning still
perhaps they never will.

is to hug him. i get the feeling nobody did it enough.
He is an artistic genius with an eccentric personality. And because of this people label him insane. In all you would have to be crazy not to admire his great works. Definitly someone I would like to get drunk with.
When I was around 10 years old, maybe less, I had a phase in wich I read several books that were not apropiate for my age at that time. “Lust for Life”, a biography of Vincent van Gogh was one of them. After reading it, I researched some more about his life, adn I was completely fascinated about his life and his work.
He could’ve been an important salesman of art he considered “ugly”. He could’ve been rich, but he chose not to. He saw art as a way to change society, as a way to fix everything that was wrong in the world he lived in, and as a way to express everything he couldn’t express with words.
He’s one of the best artists ever lived… Love his work… Visiting Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is one of the best things that ever happened to me…
Apparently, he cut off his ear and sent it to gauguin. I wish I could ask him why he did it. That’s not a nice present for your friends.
Well, of course meeting HIM is no longer possible … in this world, anyway. I was lucky enough to see his exhibition in Los Angeles about 10 years ago and now I live relatively close to his home. Still, I’ve never visited his museum and that I WILL DO in 2007! As close to meeting him as I can get, so it’ll have to do. I’m most struck by the work we rarely see or hear about—his Oriental phase. His mainstream work I don’t find as interesting, possibly because it’s become too familiar.
i think that his paintings are amazing! i am fascinated with “starry night” it is a beautiful!!
Ever since I read a book on Vincent Van Gogh, I’ve always thought it would be interesting to meet him and observe how he works.
