A story about Chinua Achebe
The Great Eagle himself…
Born Albert Chinualumogu Achebe on November 16, 1930, is a Nigerian novelist, poet and critic. He is best known for his first novel, Things Fall Apart (1958), which is the most widely-read book in modern African literature. (Wikipedia).
I read Things Fall Apart many years ago while travelling through Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda. This is a fascinating book. It describes so well the culture, customs and traditions of African tribes; the clash of cultures between whites and Africans when the British first arrived and the changes that took place which eventually led to a state of complete chaos from which many African countries have not yet been able to come out. Good story, highly recommended.
