Why I want to meet Weird Al (Alfred Mathew) Yankovic
The song “Amish Paradise” is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen :o)
Hilarious.

He’s so funny and smart I would just like to say ‘Hi’
According to my biological mom, Weird Al is a distant cousin.
I met Weird Al back stage at one of his shows. We managed to convince him to meet us later to chat and have dinner. It also turned out that his girlfriend was one of my mother’s regular customers at the store she owned at the time. Al turned our to be (not to surprisingly) a nice guy, and it was really cool getting to talk with him (I was young and he was one of my favorite artists at the time). He also later sent my sister and I a signed box set of most of his music, a signed picture and some other memorabilia. It was a good time.
He’s so lively and imaginative and seems like he would be so much fun to spend time with.
Weird Al was a ripoff.
Towards the end of promoting a club in San Diego, I befriended someone at BMG. He told me that Weird Al was doing a signing downtown at Horton Plaza. Myself and a few of my boys went.
When I met Weird Al, I told him he was a genius, and that I love his work.
“Why thank you.”, he smiled.
“Are you ever gonna do another movie?”, I asked.
“I’d love to do another movie.”, he said.
As we talked, he was polite, insightful, intelligent, well-read…
...and NOT WEIRD!!!
The whole damn thing was just like when Wayne and Garth met Alice Cooper.
I was expecting him to play the accordion, put me in a headlock, and hit me on the head with a salami. This guy was was so dull, a Q-tip cuts deeper.
At the end of the conversation, I was so dorked out by his intellect, I didn’t have him sign anything.
Still love the records, though.
He is just a very funny and very talented. Makes the best of what he has.
I’ve met Al three times. He’s very warm and genuine in person.
