Classically trained musician whose two albums have gained eager following largely by word-of-mouth, Ms. Teng has been a full-time musician just since 2002, when she left her job as a software engineer. Her music crosses several genres but could be described as contemporary pop with folk and classical sensibilities mixed in. Her lush layered melodies and intriguing lyrics have garnered her a worldwide following.
I met Vienna Teng about 4 years ago after being invited to a showcase she did in London at the Trobadour and I was introduced to her afterwards.. really sweet and a beautiful vocalist. I hope to meet her again or see her in concert.
She was in concert here in Houston in…2004? 5? I forget. Anyway…it was incredible…she was SO nice and down to earth, and chatted with us a bit after the performance. I hope she comes back to Texas soon.
After last night’s concert at The Triple Door in Seattle, Vienna Teng was signing CDs and talking with audience members. She’s very friendly and likes talking about her music and her audience’s take on the songs.
I’ll be attending her performance at The Triple Door in Seattle in November. I’ve liked her music for about 18 months and I’ve missed several previous performances as I’ve been moving among Seattle, Arizona, and Utah; each time, she performed in a city I’d just left.
