A story about Steve Ballmer
I enjoy throwing chairs about the place as much as he does. Maybe we should get together sometime and, well, throw some chairs around :D
He wouldn’t like me though. I refuse to use what calls ‘great software’.
Steven A. Ballmer is Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation, the worlds leading manufacturer of software for personal and business computing. Ballmer joined Microsoft in 1980 and was the first business manager hired by Bill Gates. Since then, Ballmer’s leadership and passion have become hallmarks of his tenure at the company.
I enjoy throwing chairs about the place as much as he does. Maybe we should get together sometime and, well, throw some chairs around :D
He wouldn’t like me though. I refuse to use what calls ‘great software’.
I met Steve at Demo (1990 or 1991 – i can’t remember exactly) when he came by to meet with the team from my company and talk about our product. He was even more arrogant than we expected him to be, and was both derisive and dismissive of our work. Even though we had a hardware product, and microsoft was (and still is) a software company, he predicted that ms would crush us.
I have met … or actually “ran into” Steve many times, mostly when working on the same floor of the same building.
Aside from being a great leader who is vocally passionate about his work, Steve is a really nice guy.
So many times I would pass him in the hallway or bump into him in the kitchen or elevator and he always said hi. I’ve even chatted with him in a towel in the club. Great guy.
