How I met The Beatles
Well it was just one Beatle…I met Paul McCartney at a preview night for the LOVE Show in Las Vegas at the Mirage on June 16, 2006.
It was one of those surreal happenings in life. I was in town for a trade seminar and was due to fly home early that evening. I saw the billboards up and went to the Mirage to check out tickets and times. Well the ticket agent said I could get a hugh ticket discount as they were haveing a dress rehersal show that night. I bought the ticket, then went to the airport and changed my flight time.
I was wondering why all the security in the area outside the entrance to the show. I was shown to my seat at the back of the section on the aisle seat. There was an extra curtain hanging in an odd place and this was a very small section of the theater. A woman came up to me and asked if I would mind moving over one seat so she could sit on the aisle. She had on a headset and was dressed in black (more security?). So I said OK and moved over one seat. Again no clue as to what was really going on. Well just before the lights went down Paul walked in down the aisle past me with a group of people and sat 7 rows in front of me.
It was a fantastic show and I recommend it to anyone who loves Beatles Music.
When Paul left he walked up the other aisle and back behind methe woman on the other side held out a program for him to sign which he declined—but in that moment of delay I was able to say “Thank you Paul for all you have done and for changing the world.” He looked me in the eyes and nodded. Then he was wisked out a security exit directly behind my seat.
What a blessing to be able to say that to someone I have admired since a teenager.
