A story about Garrison Keillor
HE ROCKS!!!!!
Host/Creator of Praire Home Companion, author of the News from Lake Wobegone, champion of poetry & music including the nightly Writers Almanac on NPR
“He’s Will Rogers with grammar lessons, Aesop with no ax to grind, the common man’s Moliere.” – Houston Chronicle
“A storytelling genius.” – The Washington Post
“The funniest American writer still open for business.” – Time Magazine
He is an American Master. One of our great storytellers, who will grow in stature as time goes on.
Besides, I grew up in Lake Woebegone.
Garrison Keillor did a reading and signing in St. Louis a few years ago. He was as endearing and personable as he seems on the radio and taller than I had quite imagined. If you ever have the chance, attend one of his readings and signings.
My dad was a big Garrison Keillor fan, and used to stop by the MPR booth at the Minnesota State Fair to see him.
Dad took me to one PHC show in Duluth when I was in high school, and I remember very little about it, except that the crew wore jumpsuits with the words “Fritz Electronics” embroidered on the backs.
I love Keillor’s weekly newspaper columns. You can read them online here:

He appears to be both a masterful storyteller, and a man of integrity. He speaks with wisdom, compassion, with a wonderful blend of words that are poetic and dramatic.
