A story about Brassai
there is a brief couple of scenes in the movie “Henry & June” showing Brassai shooting some of his most famous photographs, and i love those scenes.
Some years later i researched his life for a photography course i was taking, and became even more enthralled with his life and creativity: He was entirely self-taught on photography, he experiemented with weather conditions and reflectivity of lamposts to capture his images, wrote essays and profiles, studied Goethe religiously, sculpted, timed his photographs by the burning of his cigars, lived on food scraps & thrown out fruit for years, yet stayed true to his artistic vision, and was even in the middle of writing still another book when he died in his 80’s. Truly a Renaissance Artiste !!
