Dean Koontz (placeholder)

Apparantly he is a relative of mine and I have heard about him and his facinating writings for years.My name is Nancy Tyler-Pieters, My mother is Olive Tyler-Koontz, Grandfather, Charles Koontz from Bedford Pa., his brothers Sam and Bert Koontz- one of which originally built and ran the Old Coffeepot on the Lincoln Highway in Bedford-recently moved to the Bedford Pa Fairgrounds. The TRUE story of that Old Coffeepot lives in our family and NOT on the plaque! I have not read one of Dean’s books yet but plan to soon. They sound quite intriging and just the kind of reading I enjoy. My niece who is a Librarian in AACO MD, has read his books and loves them. We both would be honored to meet our cousin one day, and autograph one of his books for us for nostalgia sake.Would be exciting and very honored to hear from Dean.

He is an amazing author whom I’ve been reading for years. I recently participated in a internet reading group where he was an instructor. He took the time to answer individual questions from fans. He has been an inspiration to me.

In addition to being a “master of words” who expertly weaves an underlying faith into the chaotic and unusual lives of his characters, he is genuine and still ole skool.

I wrote to him about a book I was writing asking his permission to reference him in the book. Not only did he write me a personal (typed and handwritten NOT computer generated) response, he gave me some great advice about copyrights; all written with his usual style of eloquence and humor.

What a cool guy!

After reading Odd Thomas, he was the first author I’ve ever written to. Then I filed the letter and never sent it. Maybe someday…

I’ve been following his novels for years, beginning with Watchers, a delightful accident that’s become a fascination with every new title he produces. Odd Thomas is one of his best so far. He did his research on that one. But the sequel was not all that it could have been for a character with so much potential. Still, it makes a suspenseful reading experience, as usual.

Amazing writer! I love to write as well and it would be invigorating to be able to name him as a mentor. The first one I read was “Odd Thomas” (which I hear they ARE making a movie which is awesome) and it turned me on to him very much. So much description, and such brilliance. One cool guy if you ask me.

Where does he get this inspiration from? His stories twist and turn along the way that it keeps me wanting to read more. What’s the secret?

His book ‘Phantoms’ got me hooked on the horror/thriller after avoiding the genre for years. I’ve been slowly collecting his novels since.

He’s a brilliant writer. Some people might discount his skill because he doesn’t write out-and-out “literature”, but the truth is he’s got such a way with words. His work is similar to Stephen King’s, but less verbose where it matters most. He has such a way of creeping you out that you don’t even mind. A friend of mine actually met him yesterday and I’m insanely jealous.
