Singer/Songwriter and founder of the Scottish band Belle & Sebastian
I went to see Belle and Sebastian in TO when The New Pornographers were opening for them. I met briefly three other band members, but then some friends and I got to have a long and incredible chat with Stuart. It was wonderful!
it’s almost 10 years that i’ve been in love with mr.Stuart Murdoch’s band, Belle and Sebastian. I thank the high heavens for letting them make this beautiful music. Mr.Murdoch, along with his talented crew, are simply amazing!
The show went on:
The first time I went to see Belle & Sebastian was the Friday following September 11th. The band played “Turn, Turn, Turn” (written by Pete Seeger, best known by the recording done by the Byrds) very early in the set. Now I want to say that they opened the set with that song, but maybe I believe that because it had such a powerful effect on me. Something about choosing that song, and the wonderful harmonizing the band did when they sang it, it was as though they were asking us as best as they could to be rational, to not be reactive.
It was absolutely brilliant.
