Why I admire Charles Bukowski
you characterized life, world and people between your drunk lines, in a pure and honest way, without any florid expressions…

Bukowski (August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994), was a Los Angeles poet and novelist. He is sometimes associated with the Beat Generation writers because of his informal style and non-conformist literary attitude, though he did not identify himself as a Beat. Bukowski closely associated his works with his home city of Los Angeles and wrote over fifty books before his death.
“Some people never go crazy, What truly horrible lives they must live”
“Sometimes you just have to pee in the sink.”
“I don’t like jail, they got the wrong kind of bars in there”
“You begin saving the world by saving one person at a time; all else is grandiose romanticism or politics.”
“There will always be something to ruin our lives, it all depends on what or which finds us first. We are always ripe and ready to be taken.”
“Bad taste creates many more millionaires than good taste.”
“Show me a man who lives alone and has a perpetually clean kitchen, and 8 times out of 9 I’ll show you a man with detestable spiritual qualities.”
We have wasted History like a bunch of drunks shooting dice back in the men’s crapper of the local bar”

He has been the inspiration for a lot of my poetry.
An amazing poet, sad but playing on the comedy of suffering.
I only wish I could of met him, or even read his poetry when he was still around, or when it was just published, so I could really be inspired.
Found him under my couch next to a beer. Next thing I knew was at the bar dukin’ the meanest subhuman I could find. When i’m finished, I just hope people remember me as a good duker.
Bukowski!! you hit right corner of the heart of human being.. some people and all the animal including birds also miss simple thoughts!
r.i.p. Chinaski. your work still speaks to both the common man and the intellectual.
It’s sad to think that my generation couldn’t have the opportunity of ever meeting someone so influential in our times. His work has had a major impact on my life. He lived a long life, and I’m sure he was very happy with his success. I only wish I could have shook his hand, just once.
