A story about George Harrison
He was my favourite Beatle…
Slightly underrated as well, I think.
George Harrison, MBE (February 25, 1943 – November 29, 2001) was a popular British guitarist, singer, songwriter, record producer, and film producer, best known as a member of The Beatles.
Ah, Georgie. I think you were so under appreciated. Sometimes, a person can get stuck in the shadows of ‘larger’ personalities, but, fear not, we saw you – and, we loved you.

What a beautiful person you were. such a talented, gentle spirit, at peace now. I hope that one day I will meet you in another dimention and we can chant mantras.
Because he’s the best…I’ll never forget him. I wish we could have a drink with him in my favorite bar in Sydney ( it’s in Avillion Hotel by the way)
He was on the floor, in a pool of blood.
I couldn’t get away from the police that night, I had to win my freedom in a game of Strip Poker with 3 Female Armed Coppers.
I won and collected my dues.
George was a true hippie, and (if i dare say this without getting stoned to death) I always loved George more than John, coz he was kindof an underdog, the quiet and thoughtful and intense “other one”. Wish I couldve met him!!!
In 1985, George Harrison & 2 of the guys from Deep Purple came to stay on an island in Australia where I was working. They chartered a boat for a day to get away from the tourist crowds and I was assigned to host the charter for the day; it was my job to ensure they were fed etc.. Awestruck but trying to remain cool, calm & unaffected, we cruised to a beautiful Bay where George went snorkelling & spent a couple of hours on the beach. When he came back to the boat, we hadd a late lunch and a few drinks. He’d brought a guitar with him & one of the guys from DP had a harmonica – so they jammed for about 2hrs. I’ll never forget it!
I avoided putting people on here for a long time, because the internet is weird (and I think it’s wise to be a bit paranoid about it) but as George isn’t around (unfortunately) I felt ok putting him on here. The Beatles were a legend. Simply amazing….I admire their talent so much, although I don’t approve of everything they did. But, I play the guitar. And George was the lead guitarist for the Beatles…so meeting him would have been simply amazing (I’m actually working on “here comes the sun” by him now). I’ve often joked that I was supposed to have been in my late teens in the early sixties, as opposed to now….haaaa, but anyway, this one isn’t going to happen. But I wish I could have met George. The Beatles rock, and he is my favorite of the four.
I know I won’t meet George on this earth but he was one of my favorite beatles. He kind of reminds me of my dad.
