A story about Thurston Moore
Because he’s Thurston Moore! What else is there to say. Sonic Youth are legends

I was at Pitchfork Music Fest & I saw him at least 3 times. First was him walking out backstage to see Slint perform. I of course was just unable to talk or move. Just basically stunned & it was funny because the sound guy who followed him goes “Go & talk to him, he’s a nice guy”.
They didn’t let anyone backstage but the next day, when I was in the record tent, I was looking around & I saw this tall figure 3 feet away from me. Just by the hair I could tell it was him so I asked him to sign my Daydream Nation copy & rambled on why the cover was broken & how they didn’t let us backstage. He was genuinely nice & very cool.
Then saw him again as I was leaving & said hi to him.
Because he is an amazing guitar player that has had a profound impact on music. Plus, he seems like he’d be really cool to just hang out with.
I went to the Bazar Curioux, a music festival in Rotterdam just for see a solo freestylesession by Thurston. I saw a door at the back of the room and opened it looking for a bathroom. It didnt reveal any WC or other related furniture, instead it was some kind of alternative access for the (small but nice) concert room. The room was empty and i sat while the sound engineer made adjustments. After some minutes i see this tall guy with a telecaster, the sonicmoore himself.. he plugged the guitar and made a complete review of every sound, riff, Kkkxhsss and Gzxhjjjnmm from the guitar and the pedal effects that was mesmerizing (even more than the ‘official’ performance and just for me and the sound engineer, heh). after the soundcheck he walked to my direction for talk to someone behind me and we just shake hands and have some little talk about nothing relevant.
just a little encounter but a great chance to see and met this ear-expander, soul-strecher and meta-gnomic artist.
