My then 11 year old son needed intensive treatment to cure him from cancer of the lymphnodes (Hodgkin’s disease). One day we missed an important appointment at the local hospital x-ray department. We called and were allowed to come in three hours later than scheduled.
When we entered the ward I noticed 2 guys in dark suits and wearing dark glasses watching the hallway. Hmmm… I thought that was strange. They looked like CIA or body guards. My husband who was with us said I watched too many movies.
We were asked to take a seat in a small waiting area. The room was empty, and also I noticed that there were no patients waiting in the hall. Usually this place is VERY busy and packed. As I glanced through the door into the hall area I almost fainted…
“Shhhh… Sweethart!” I said holding my finger over my lips. “I think I just saw Bill Cosby in the hall”.
My husband laughed. He started to pick on me. Making a Bill Cosby voice he chanted: “Yeah! Hey, hey, hey. Want a Jello pudding pop?” While I was going wild, telling him to shut up, he carried on, entertaining himself and our son. “I am serious!!! Stop playing. SHUT UP! He is right there and can hear you!” I said, while our son laughed.
Suddenly my husband stopped in the middle of his “Bill Cosby Imitation” act. I told him to take a peek out into the hallway. And there he was, Bill Cosby in person!!! With his body guards.
For laughing out loud!!!! I was right.
He took a moment to speak to our son. We told him why he was there, and Bill Cosby wished him well and gave him his autograph. This story took place in the fall of 2000. Our son still has the autograph and is doing well. He is in full remission and back to a normal life. Had we not missed our appointment we would have never had this memorable moment with Bill Cosby.
