How I met Tim Robbins
Met him about two weeks ago during the filming of his upcoming movie “The Return”. Very personable.
Actor. Born 1958, Robbins studied drama at UCLA where he graduated with honors in 1981. That same year, he formed the Actors’ Gang, an experimental ensemble that expressed radical political observations through the European avant-garde form of theater. He started film work in TV movies in 1983, but hit the big time in 1988 with his portrayal of the dimwitted fastball pitcher “Nuke” Laloosh in Bull Durham (1988). Tall with baby-faced looks, he has the ability to play naive and obtuse (Cadillac Man (1990) and The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) or slick and shrewd (The Player (1992) and Bob Roberts (1992).

See my story about Susan Sarandon. And I really didn’t mean to anger him, I was like four years old, and Jack wanted me to be Captain Hook, even if I had the crappy homemade costume.
I bumped into Tim Robbins several times when working at Iguana Studios (16 W 19 ST) back in New York. His company was on the top floor of the building, and we shared several long, slow elevator rides together.
One day, after just having watched “Arlington Road,” I turned to him and said, “Dude… just saw Arlington Road yesterday.” He replied, “Yeah? What did you think?”
I said, “Can’t say that I liked it. However, it had a great depressing ending… and I like that a lot.” He nodded in a strange fashion, and then we didn’t talk any more.
At least once a week someone tells me I look like him. It happens so often that I am getting used to it although sometimes I forget and it catches me by surprize. I was once in a bike shop and I noticed a woman and her daughter looking at me and wispering. I just thought it was strange and went on about my business. She finally came over and asked me “are you Tim Robbins?”. I laughed because I suddenly understood the wispering, I said “I get that a lot” She stared at me a moment and said, “well, are you?”
No I am not Tim Robbins but I get stared at a lot and people make the comment quite fequently, but I am only 5’10” and I am not seeing Susan S., but I admire Tim and Susan’s political views as well as their talent as actors.
