Why I want to meet Mike Patton
The man is a genius… underated and sublime. Always has been.
Lead singer for: Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, etc.
I have admired him for such a long time! I just recently saw him in April, twice! I met him after the second concert in NYC! We waited until after the show, we met Rahzel, who signed my ticket stub & was very sweet! We also met Pigeon John who was also very nice! I waited around, saw the door start to open & there he was!! I almost dropped dead right there, but didn’t. There was someone else who wanted a picture with him, too…..Then, I went over to him & asked if I could have a picture. He said something that I still can’t remember. My sister snapped the picture on her phone & I touched Mike’s arm & said thank you. I don’t know how I did it, but I walked to my sister & then my legs were complete JELL~O!! Crazy. That was probably the happiest I had been in a long time. I regretted meeting him @ first cause he was a little grumpy, but then said nah. I met him, he’s someone I have loved for such a long time. Maybe I will meet him again & he will be in a better mood. :)
I’ve seen him live a few times, fantastic fantastic man :) I think he and I could make some great fucking music together, – he’s probably one of the people I’d most like to meet before I die :)
goes off dreaming
I have met mike patton when I was in high school. He was just making a name for himself at the time but he was very close to my PE teacher at McKinleyville High School.
Mr Bungle Gig ANU Uni 1996 ish. Saw some dude who i thought was another try hard patton fan dressed up like him. Turns out it was him. I walked up to him, he stopped mid conversation just looking at me. Asked him where Trey was n walked off. Seemed cool.
I’ve been a fan of his for about 8 years now, and I’ve yet to find another artist who’s talent I respect more. I saw him when Tomahawk opened for Tool in Ottawa a few years ago. It was funny, because a guy I knew (and didn’t like) had shown up at the concert, and between songs Mike pointed him out in the audience and made fun of the stupid expression on his face.
Desperatly!!!
i knew a girl who went to high school with him, but that’s as close as i have gotten…
Well, I sort of met him. Watched him with Mr. Bungle, then he was about 15 ft away from me, watching System of A Down. I was too intimidated to go up to him. Regretted it ever since.
I met Mike Patton backstage at a Primus show in 1991. Let me just say for as strange and aggressive as so much of his (and his various projects’) music is, he himself was quite friendly and soft-spoken. We talked about setting up an interview for my newspaper, but we kind of lost track of eachother and that never happened. Oh well. I’d be hard pressed to come up with a better or more versatile male vocalist.
I’ve met Mike Patton twice… I don’t remember much about the first time, which was after a Mr. Bungle show in the early 90’s (I was 13, I’m 30 now…) other than he had this stun gun and he was giggling maniacally and threatening to zap me with it. I say “threatening”, but it was more like a joking thing. He just kept grinning at me. He also signed a picture I had brought with me. He used disappearing ink, the bastard. :) I also met Trey, who was very nice, but kind of scary to me at the time.
Fast forward about 9 years later… I went to see Mr Bungle when they were doing Sno-Core. I ran into Trey in the lobby after the show and he took me to the tour bus, where I met Mike again. He seemed rather annoyed, to be honest, but I think it was because there was an ultimate fanboy there who insisted the he sign every CD cover he had with him. I asked him if he remembered trying to zap me with a stun gun; he said he’s never had one. I told him, “Look man, I didn’t do drugs back then, i remember it pretty clearly.” He replied, “I have no clue what you’re talking about.” But he posed for a picture with me, which I have subsequently lost somewhere. (It wasn’t a good photo at all, anyway.)
I hope to meet him again in the near future. It seems like he’s chilled out about being a dick to his fans, as long as they treat him with respect, which I would, absolutely. :)
