I met Nick Hornby at a book signing for About a Boy, in Seattle, maybe in 1998. After reading High Fidelity, I got on this huge run about needing to buy more CDs, and when I met him I said “your book made me go out and buy 500 CDs”. His reply was “Pretty easy to do, isn’t it?”
