The last time I saw Wesley Willis
I headbutted him at the Bug Jar in Rochester, NY! (I was wearing a Batman T-shirt, but he didn’t try to wupp my ass.)
Chicago-born (1963) ‘outsider’ artist and musician, Willis was the imposing (6’5” 300lb+) frontman of the Wesley Willis fiasco. He was incredibly prolific, releasing numerous albums, and writing many songs a day partly as a means of coping with his schizophrenia. Though he was exploited as a novelty act, the memory of his friendly head-butts and indefatigable humor in the face of adversity make him an enduring and endearing figure in the memories of those who met him. He died due to complications from chronic myelogenous leukemia in 2003.
