Born Russell Ira Crowe on 7th April 1964 in Wellington, North Island, New Zealand. His family moved & raised him in Sydney, Australia since he was a small child.
Parents were both movie set caterers and began acting early as a child star on a local Australian TV show. His breakthrough australian film was ‘RomperStomper’ (1992) & the one that got him noticed in America was ‘The Sum of Us’ (1994). Now an international movie star, famous for films such as GLADIATOR (2000), A BEAUTIFUL MIND (2001) & CINDERELLA MAN (2005).

I was an extra in his movie Cinderella Man. He’s a very kind person who cares about the people he works with. In the last days of shooting at the frm. Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, there was a small fire near the ring area where he was about to shoot a scene. People began to see smoke and yell “fire!!” Russel was genuinely worried and actually began to advance in the direction of the fire. Not many Hollywood actors would put themselves in harms way.
