How I met Simon Pegg
Earlier in 2007, Simon (along with Edgar Wright and Nick Frost) were doing a press tour in Australia for the promotion of their new film “Hot Fuzz”. They were going to be doing a Q+A at a special screening in Melbourne – the only real ‘event’ as part of the tour (their only other real public appearance was the premiere in Sydney, I believe!). Anyhow, being in Brisbane wasn’t exactly conducive to me getting to see the guys; but I have a couple of GREAT friends in Melbourne who not only secured me a ticket for the screening/Q+A, but also spent their frequent flier points getting me a flight down to Melbourne and back to Brisbane the next day!!
So we all settled in for that screening, and then the lads came out (quite jet lagged) for an amazing and funny Q+A. Afterward there was a big lineup of people streaming past them for signings; I had my Spaced box set at the ready, but ended up being pretty dumbstruck. I could barely make words when I spoke to Edgar and Nick; luckily, by the time I got to Simon I managed to blurt out at least a thankyou while he was scrawling on my DVD box!
I even got to grab a quick photo:

It’s a pity everything was so rushed, but it was still damned awesome.
