José Saramago (placeholder)

José de Sousa Saramago (Azinhaga, 16 de novembro de 1922) é um escritor português galardoado em 1998 com o Nobel da Literatura, com o livro Ensaio sobre a cegueira. Nasceu na província do Ribatejo, no dia 16 de novembro, embora o registro oficial mencione o dia 18.

I went to the lauching of “A Caverna” (The Cave), in Curitiba. An actor read some excerpts from the book and Saramago did a little talk afterwards. His energy and ideals are amazing, I was really impressed by his presence.

Why I admire José Saramago

Because The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis is the greatest book I’ve ever read about pain, love, sadness, happiness, and most of all, nothingness – in short, about life itself.
