Nick Anthis (placeholder)

From his blog:

A Rhodes Scholar and biochemistry graduate student at Oxford University, I’m currently trying to live up to all of the crazy promises I made in my scholarship application, including something about being a scientific activist. You’re invited along for the ride at The Scientific Activist, as we try to figure out what exactly a scientific activist is, explore science’s position in a modern progressive society, and hopefully have a bit of fun too.

In May 2005 I graduated from Texas A&M University, where I researched blood vessel development, a fascinating phenomenon essential for normal development but also an active contributor to disease, especially in cancer. Now I study the structures of cell surface proteins to understand how human cells sense and react to their surroundings. No stranger to politics or the media, I was president of the Texas Aggie Democrats and later a science writer and opinion columnist for Texas A&M’s student newspaper, The Battalion.

Why I admire Nick Anthis

Nick led the charge on outing and exposing a Bush Administration crony at NASA named George Deutsch. Deutsch was actively trying to undermine NASA Scientific mission. Read all about it here (and in the New York Times):

Three cheers for Nick!
