I’ve been a Rick Springfield fan since 1972, and I credit his musical influence for the reason I sing, play guitar and write songs and poetry to this very day.
As a young girl, I was ridiculed big time for my crush and told that I should forget him, and that ever meeting him would be unrealistic. Well, sometimes dreams really do become reality! I finally got the opportunity to meet him, my IDOL, in person in March 2006. It was at a VIP sound check in Tacoma Washington at the Emerald Queen Casino.
He truly is truly a very nice, down to earth, approachable and very unpretentious man with a fabulous sense of humor. He also knows how to be very charming to a lady, too!
After all these years of fandom, I was finally able to tell him what an inspiration and influence he’s been in my life, as well as give him two framed copies of original poetry I had written about the fan experience. I think he appreciated them, based on this smile :)
By the way, he totally ROCKED Tacoma that night! Not only does Mr. Springfield still have his devastatingly good looks, he’s still got the awesome guitar chops, too!
So I’d say if you want to meet Mr. Springfield…just follow the advice given on one of his songs “Stand up…and hold onto your dream!” Ya never know what might happen…
