At fifteen, DeLonge was suspended from his high school in Poway, California for coming to a basketball game drunk. A few years later he was elected homecoming king, to the anger of school officials. After he began attending school at Rancho Bernardo High School, he met Mark Hoppus through Hoppus’s sister Anne, and together with Scott Raynor the three formed blink-182 in late 1992. Together they released two demo tapes, Flyswatter and Buddha as well as two CDs, Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch. In 1998 blink-182’s drummer, Raynor, left the band (returning to school amid drink/drug rumours) and was replaced by Travis Barker(The Aquabats). With Barker the band released another four more albums, including one live album. Those albums are Enema of the State, The Mark, Tom and Travis Show (live album), Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and the band’s final album, which is actually untitled but most often thought to be a self-titled album. Between the albums Take Off Your Pants and Jacket and the untitled album, DeLonge had a side project with fellow band member Travis Barker called Box Car Racer. They released one album together before breaking up the band in 2003 to focus more on blink-182.
