A story about David Duchovny

I use to work at this restaurant called, The Clearwater Cafe. Often times, celebrities working in and around Vancouver would stop in, especially vegans/vegetarians, to grab a bite, have dinner or brunch. David Duchovny often had brunch there and I never watched a single episode of The X-Files at the time, so he was nobody to me. I was bussing some tables one day and he starts up a conversation, asking how I am. I take this opportunity to ask him what he does. He looks at me for a minute and tells me he’s an actor. Now, in Vancouver, there are actors everywhere, so he didn’t surprise me. “Oh, what are you in?” I ask. He looks at me again, telling me about The X-Files and if I’ve ever seen it. I think about if for a moment and say no. As soon as he said it was a sci-fi show, I figured it was a waste of my time, since I’m not a fan of those types of shows anyway. When I told him this, he said I should give it a try. When I started seeing his face everywhere, it started to dawn on me who I talked to that fateful day:That’s my favourite celebrity encounter. He was a really nice and mellow person too, quite likeable.
