I met him twice. Once at a private REM gig at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill, and another time in Brighton playing with his own band.
I got his autograph on both occasions, he signed my BC Rich guitar on one occasion, and the next time a CD.
I had to sell the guitar as I was short of cash, but no regrets, easy come easy go :o)
He is a very polite guy.
Peter and I have known each other for a long while (since I was 20 I think). He’s one of the most interesting people I know, and an evening out with him is frequently like going to History of Rock school.
It must’ve been 14 years ago. He was playing banjo in a bluegrass band at Allen’s. He was outside after the show. I nervously went up to him and shook his hand. He was cool.
