A story about Jill Scott
The year is 2000. And I just quit a job that I felt was strangling me. I wanted out. But out WHERE? I was lost and wanted confirmation. I had a friend, who had a friend at Honey Magazine, the mag was sponsoring a new artist album release party. Upscale, small quaint, probably about 30 ppl in attendance. I tagged along went, and heard this young lady sing. Her voice, vibrated all through me, as tears came to my eyes, just listening to her coo. She explained that she too had recently just up and quit her job to do this, and she didn’t even know how to “DO IT” but she just going to GO with IT. I shook my head “NO” but meant “YES” in agreement with her, as I was blown away, that her story was MY story. I am was on my way to GOING with “IT.” Going with “God.” When her set was finished she walked right over to me and hugged me WARMLY, genuinely. I told her, “I needed her energy.” She said, “No I needed yours.”
Me and Jill been cool every since.
Rock on Jill. Rock on.
Still going with “IT,”

Next Level here I come.
